Jim Righeimer was elected to the Costa Mesa City Council on November 2, 2010, where he currently serves as Mayor Pro-Tem. Running on a platform dedicated to streamlining city government, reducing pension liabilities and providing improved services, Jim was the highest vote getter among the five council candidates.
In 2007 Jim was appointed to the Costa Mesa Planning Commission and later elected by his peers as Chairman in 2009, serving in that capacity until being elected to City Council in 2010. Jim is also Chairman of the Orange County Housing Authority and a Board Member for Mercy House, a non-profit group that provides emergency services, transitional housing and permanent housing with supportive services to homeless men, women and children living in Orange County. Jim serves on the advisory board of the Costa Mesa Pop Warner and Cheer programs, as well as on the board of Youth Employment Services Organization (YES), which is a forty-year old organization that helps local youth find jobs in their community. Jim also serves on the Orange County Supervisor's Airport Land-Use Commission, and is a founding member of both the Orange County Education Alliance and the Family Action Committee.
Jim received his Bachelor of Science degree from Pepperdine University Graziadio School of Business and Management. He owns LMC Management Group, LLC, which owns and operates office buildings and retail centers in Southern California.
Jim and his wife Lene live with their three daughters in the Mesa Verde neighborhood in Costa Mesa.
