| REPRESENTATION: | Presently, the Committee consists of 9 regular members |
| PURPOSE: | The Historic Preservation Committee will work with City Council to preserve the history of Costa Mesa and work with the Historical Society to educate the general public about the rich history of the community. |
| MEETING SCHEDULE: | The Committee meets on the 2 nd Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. |

GOALS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Mission StatementThe Historical Preservation Committee will work to preserve and promote the historical heritage of the City of Costa Mesa
2010 GOALS:
- Revise and publish on the City Website (HPC webpage) electronic “Story of Costa Mesa book” activity sheets.
- Display ten historical photos on the walls at the Neighborhood Community Center and create/implement an informational pamphlet explaining each photo.
- Research each parks historical background and publish on the City Website (located under each parks description).
- Continue to distribute Historical Site Marker pamphlets to participating businesses along Newport Blvd.
- Begin Historical Site Markers phase II project
- Implement interpretive “1st people” signage along the OCME train tracks at Fairview Park
- Continue to follow up with Segerstrom’s on their development regarding the family home and barn being developed as a historic site and for State/National Landmark Registry.
- Assessment of historical resources at OC Fairgrounds
- Collaborate with Historical Society on building a travelling exhibit for schools, businesses, etc., that might include multi-media.
- Listing street names and significance of name.
- Continue to partner with Historic Society on Estancia Adobe restoration project
- Provide support to and partner with Costa Mesa Historical Society
- Continue to support any Council issues that arise concerning Historic Preservation for the City of Costa Mesa
- The Committee provided information that is displayed on the Introduction sign for the Fairview Park Interpretive Signage project.
- As a component of the Newport Blvd Beautification project; the Committee researched, created and implemented twenty Historical Site Marker plaques and an informational pamphlet which are displayed in local businesses.
- The Committee worked with Public Services and the Historical Society on Estancia Adobe improvements (roof replaced, electricity updated, walls white washed and inside wood work painted).
