Emergencies aren't our only interaction with the public. The Costa Mesa Fire Department is also active in the community by teaching fire prevention and life safety education.

Fire companies conduct business inspections to identify and eliminate potential fire and life safety hazards. Fire Prevention personnel, along with engine and truck company personnel, promote safety through a variety of public education programs, emergency preparedness programs, and hazard reduction activities (weed abatement and hazardous materials monitoring).

The personnel of the Costa Mesa Fire Department spend hundreds of hours in training each year. We strive for excellence and prepare for every type of emergency, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Continuing education and training prepare department personnel for saving lives, fighting fires, providing emergency medical care, hazardous materials responses, specialized rescue techniques, vehicle extrications, transportation accidents, fire investigations, fire prevention inspections, and public education for life safety.

In addition to providing fire suppression and emergency medical services, the Costa Mesa Fire Department offers the programs list under "Programs".
