In August, 2009 the City of Costa Mesa, Purchasing Division received the 14th Annual "Achievement of Excellence in Procurement" award. This is the ninth consecutive year that Costa Mesa received this prestigious award. Costa Mesa is one of only 38 agencies to receive this national award at least nine consecutive times and one of only 41 government agencies in California to receive the 2009 award.

 

This award was designed to recognize organizational excellence in public procurement. The program is designed to measure innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership. The annual award is earned by those organizations that demonstrate excellence in procurement by obtaining a high score on a rating of benchmark criteria. Each year the criteria measured for the award are modified to provide new challenges and opportunities for professional growth and to continually raise the bar for excellence in public purchasing.

 

Our goal is to ensure that Costa Mesa taxpayers receive the best value on every purchase and that all expenditures are conducted in a manner that preserves the public trust. Towards that goal, we encourage qualified vendors to participate in doing business with the City of Costa Mesa.

 

The City of Costa Mesa Procurement staff is dedicated to the principles of competition and fairness. Purchasing operates under the auspices of federal, state and local law.
