The Joint Field Use Master Plan (Master Plan) will serve as the guiding document for the design and construction of athletic fields and supporting facilities at California Elementary School, TeWinkle Middle School, Costa Mesa High School and Davis Elementary School. This Master Plan will help chart the path to achieve the best designs to meet the District's physical education and sports program needs as well as the City's recreational needs.
Funding for the master planning of four field areas was approved by City Council in June 2007. The Master Plan is needed to address the field limitations that are due to the current field age and layout. The City and NMUSD entered into a Joint Use Agreement to allow for the public use of school fields during non-school hours. The partnership has helped with the shortage of fields as the new agreement provides local athletic organizations with new opportunities for recreational play and practice.
Schmidt Design Group was awarded a Professional Services Agreement for the master planning of four fields at NMUSD sites on March 18, 2008.
